The research
Published by the UN Environment Programme and the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, the Global Status Report assesses the sector’s progress towards climate goals.
It brings together evidence on energy, emissions, policy, finance, technologies and solutions. That shared perspective helps governments, industry and researchers understand where progress is being made and where further action is needed.
The 2025–2026 report credits Ian Hamilton, Harry Kennard, Shih-Che Hsu, Lucien Hua, and Merve Yılmaz from Building Insights among its lead coordinating authors, alongside colleagues at the Buildings Performance Institute Europe.
